English Casino

In order to celebrate the end of the second term, I decided to improvise an English Casino with the children. In every group I placed one of the games ( and its instructions) we have been playing with to improve our linguistic competence in English. They played for twelve or fifteen minutes on a table and then, they moved to the next one. That way they practiced again structures and vocabulary we have been working with in this term.

A modo de celebración de fin de trimestre, decidí improvisar con los chicos un English Casino: en cada grupo de mesas coloqué uno de los juegos (y sus instrucciones) con los que hemos estado trabajando en este curso con la finalidad de mejorar nuestra competencia lingüística. Cada grupo jugaba en una mesa durante doce o quince minutos y luego cambiaban de mesa, rotando por las diferentes mesas de juego. De este modo, practicaban y repasaban las estructuras y vocabulario con los que hemos trabajado a lo largo del trimestre.

Carnival

On the 24th of February we celebrated Carnival at Ayatimas School. We had so much fun and the day was deliciously different. Here are some of the pictures I took. I hope you like them.

Mini-Teacher

Mini teacher is a game widely known by the children since we use it from time to time in our lessons. It is a living game: it keeps growing and changing with the new structures and vocabulary they acquire. It is about questions and answers that they might find in daily life. 

Mini teacher es un juego con el que los niños están familiarizados, puesto que lo usamos de vez en cuando en nuestras clases. Es un juego vivo: crece y cambia a medida que vamos incorporando estructuras y vocabulario. Se trata de un juego de preguntas y respuestas que podrían encontrar en la vida cotidiana. 

Question, negative, affirmative....

We have been learning and practicing different structures for sentences in English. And ending with a game seemed to me a very good idea. Constructing sentences in groups.

Hemos estado aprendiendo y practicando diferentes estructuras para las oraciones en inglés. Y acabar la actividad con un juego me pareció una buena idea. Construimos frases en grupo.

Comparative game

As you might already know, I like to use many games in my learning situations, since I have noticed that children´s motivation increases when playing. And they learn much more when their attitude is good. This time, they made individually sentences using comparative adjectives. Then, in groups, they chose some of them and the competition began! Were the sentences True or False?

Como puede que ya sepan, me gusta usar muchos juegos a lo largo de las situaciones de aprendizaje, puesto que la motivación de los niños aumenta cuando se les enseña jugando. Y aprenden mucho más cuando su actitud es positiva. En esta ocasión, los niños, de manera individual, construyeron frases usando comparativos. Luego, en grupo, eligieron algunas de todas las que tenían y la competición comenzó! Las frases eran True or False?
